Help Tackle Persecution With Prayer During the World Cup

Saturday, November 20, 2022, marked the beginning of the twenty-second FIFA World Cup. The eyes of soccer fans everywhere are on Qatar, the first Middle Eastern country to host the historic competition. While the talent is extraordinary and the match-ups entertaining, for the Christian there can be an additional purpose to pursue as we sit in front of our TVs over the next month.

Open Doors, an organization serving the persecuted church, has provided some helpful resources for us to use to pray for the most-at-risk persecuted Christians in 7 of the countries represented in this year’s World Cup. The prayer lists would be wonderful tools to use personally or in youth or college groups to pray for the gospel to go forth in these restricted access areas and for Christians to have strength, grace, wisdom, and endurance in the face of intense persecution.
