TEAMeffort is a non-profit inter-denominational Christian mission organization that has been providing life-changing, eye-opening, faith-building mission experiences for youth for over 16 years. We offer more opportunities than ever for youth groups to put their faith into action through challenging and rewarding mission projects such as repairing and renovating homes for families in need, building mission and ministry facilities, leading childrens programs, working at homeless shelters, responding to natural disasters and reaching out to individuals and communities through Christian service. TEAMeffort will have 23 camps located all over the United States and Overseas and have brought over 85,000 youth and leaders from thousands of churches and organizations together to serve.
TEAMeffort Mission camps are designed to be a mixture of hard work, spiritual growth and good, clean, adventurous fun. Youth groups can expect to work hard, play hard and laugh hard. It is our desire that at the close of each mission camp the youth will return to their churches in more cohesive groups, sharing in memories that will last a lifetime and enjoying a renewed excitement about what Jesus Christ is doing in all of their lives. For staff, we get the privilege and blessing of sticking around to do it all over again each week of the summer!
To be eligible for Summer Staff, individuals must be college-aged young adults at least one year out of high school.
As a Summer Staff, you can expect a challenging and rewarding summer working alongside youth groups from all over the United States. You will hold a number of responsibilities around the camp and at mission sites. Basically, you and the rest of the members of your staff are the ones who make TEAMeffort Youth Group Mission Camps run. Before groups arrive each week, you will be responsible for
preparing worksites with all the tools and materials needed and individually running worksites with the guidance of contractors and other Summer Staff on workdays. During the week, you will participate in preparing for and cleaning up after meals, running the camp store, leading group activities & sports, and buying materials needed for worksites the next day. Summer Staff are also the ones who put together and lead nightly Chapel services involving praise & worship, games, and giving devotions. You will also have random jobs and tasks that come up everyday.
Summer Staff who lead worship will have an additional responsibility of preparing and planning for nightly Chapel services. This includes practice with other worship leaders, preparing power points and choosing appropriate songs to go with nightly devotions.
May 23, 2012 to mid August.
The summer starts with a week long Staff Training in Gainesville, GA at our main office. Then there are 9 weeks of camp followed by an optional week of Staff Retreat held at one of our coastal camp locations.
Summer Staff receive a standard summer expense reimbursement at the beginning of the summer in the amount of $1,200. In addition, scholarships will be awarded to Summer Staff that successfully complete a summer of mission work with TEAMeffort. These scholarships range from $600 and up based upon the number of years that you have been on staff with TEAMeffort. During the summer, your housing, the majority of your meals and some gas expenses will be covered by TEAMeffort. It is our understanding that you will not incur any tax liability on the reimbursement or scholarship; however, we suggest that you consult with your own Certified Public Accountant if you have any questions.
A lot of prayerful consideration goes into deciding on where to place Summer Staff. While we would like to and will try to place each person at one of their choice of camps, we need to make sure that we put the right balance of skills, spiritual gifts and passions at each location to best serve each community. If you have any specific experience, skills, passion or knowledge of a certain area where we are serving, please let us know and we will take it into consideration when putting together our staffs.
No problem! During staff training, all of our staff will have time on a worksite with some of our TEAMeffort contractors and skilled staff. You will learn basic construction tips that will help you as you lead worksites during the summer as well as what to plan for when preparing your sites. Throughout the summer, our contractors and skilled staff will be available for you to ask questions about different projects and will check up on worksites to make sure that everything is coming together smoothly. You will never be left without someone who can answer your questions.
In addition to learning how to run worksites, you will have training for projects such as community outreach, sports evangelism, kids camps, and VBS. While the majority of our worksites are construction, we want to make sure that you are prepared to serve in other areas if needed.
Our goal is to keep each staff together and intact for the duration of the summer. We understand that sometimes prior commitments have been made and we will consider them on a case-by-case basis. All requests must be pre-approved before Staff Training.
While having a vehicle is not a requirement to be Summer Staff, we strongly recommend you bring your vehicle if you have one. You are responsible for getting to Staff Training and home after Staff Retreat.
Upon receiving your application and reference, you will be contacted by someone in the TEAMeffort office to let you know we have received your application. Each application received is read by our office staff and references contacted. Once we have had time to look over all these components, you will hear from our staff coordinator. If your application is approved, you will find out what location you will be serving at in the beginning of May.
