What does is the camp fee for the Guatemala trip?
The camp fee for the Guatemala trip is $479 per person.

What does the camp fee cover?
The camp fee for the Guatemala trip covers lodging, work site materials, evening programs, transportation, and most meals.

What does the camp fee not cover?
The camp fee does not cover your airfare, free day activities or some meals.

Does TEAMeffort recommend any travel agencies to get my flights?
Yes, we do refer you to an organization called 963 Missions. Please call our office (678-989-0111) or email our Overseas Coordinator Jeremy at Jeremy@teameffort.org for a flyer.

Will a translator be provided?
One of our staff members will act as your translator during the week.

When do we arrive in Guatemala and when do we leave?
The camp runs from Sunday to Saturday. You will need to arrange your flights to arrive in Guatemala City on Sunday in the late morning to early afternoon and leave sometime Saturday late morning and on.

What meals are provided?
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner will be provided Monday - Thursday. Breakfast and Dinner will be provided on Friday and Breakfast will be provided on Saturday.

Is transportation provided?
Yes, transportation will be provided to and from the airport, to and from the work site and to and from the free day activity. There are also a good number of activities within walking distance of our housing site.

Where will we be staying?
You will be staying in the city of Antigua. Our housing is a Hostel called Hostel 5 and a partner hotel across the street. The Hostel and Hotel both house 2-5 people per room. They also provide the linens that you will need. It is suggested, however, that you bring your own pillow and towels. Showers are located at the housing site.

Where will we be eating?
You will be eating Breakfast at the local Hostel where we will be housed, Lunch either on the work site or back at the Hostel, and Dinner at a local coffee plantation.

Where will the chapel service be held?
The chapel service will be held at a local coffee plantation, the same plantation where you will be eating Dinner. The service will be outside under a tent on the plantation.

Are we required to have passports?
Yes, you are required to have an up to date passport for travel to Guatemala.

Do I need to get any shots to go to Guatemala?
We recommend that you consult with your local physician or health department and they will give you the most updated information on whether or not any shots are required.

What type of work will our group be doing?
In the past, our groups have done both relational and construction work. The relational work has included interacting with the kids and families in a local neighborhood, helping at local orphanages and a local disabilities center. The construction work has included working on homes and community projects in a local neighborhood and working on a local church.

What type of free day activities are there?
There are a couple of different options for the free day activity. There is hiking, zip lining, tours of Antigua, trips to Lake Atitlan and surrounding volcanic lakes, trips to the beaches, etc. The free day activity is not included in the price of the trip. Your group will be able to decide what activity they would like to do and then we will provide the transportation to and from the activity.

How many people will be at this camp?
The capacity of this camp location is 45 people. This does not include the two or three TEAMeffort staff members who will be present.

Will we be the only group at the camp?
If your group fills the capacity of the camp, then you will be the only group that week. If your group is smaller than our camps capacity, then we will look to put another group in the week with yours.

What is the possibility of my group coming for longer than the standard Sunday to Saturday week?
As stated, our standard week is Sunday to Saturday. However, if you would like to try and deviate from the standard week, feel free to contact Jeremy, the Overseas Coordinator (678-989-0111, Jeremy@teameffort.org) and he will be glad to discuss other options with you.
